About Us
Output is a strength and performance training gym in Affton, South County St. Louis. We coach everyone from first-time lifters to competitive athletes, with programming built on sound technique, steady progress and individual attention. As our client base grows, we're adding coaches and coaches-in-training who want to grow with us.
The Role
You'll support and deliver personal training and small-group strength sessions, help clients build sound movement habits, and contribute to a positive, high-energy gym culture. Interns learn hands-on under experienced coaches and gradually take on more coaching responsibility.
What You'll Do

- Help design and adjust individualized training programs (interns assist under supervision).
- Conduct movement screens and track client progress over time.
- Assist with group classes, gym floor supervision and new client onboarding.
- Keep the training space clean, organized and welcoming.
- Build strong relationships with clients and keep them motivated and accountable.
What We're Looking For
- A genuine passion for strength training and helping people improve.
- Solid understanding of the fundamental lifts (squat, hinge, press, pull, carry) and how to coach them.
- Working knowledge of exercise progressions and regressions: how to scale a movement up or down based on a client's ability, and how to progress load, volume and complexity over time.
- Clear communication skills and a friendly, professional attitude.
- Reliability and willingness to work some early morning, evening or weekend hours.
- Must be 18 or older.
- CPR/AED certification, or willingness to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
- SafeSport Trained certification through the U.S. Center for SafeSport, or willingness to complete it within 30 days of hire. Our coaches work with youth athletes.
- Employment is contingent on a satisfactory background check.
Physical Requirements
- Able to demonstrate exercises and spot clients safely.
- Able to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs (plates, dumbbells, kettlebells).
- Comfortable standing and moving on the gym floor for extended periods.
Preferred (Not Required)
- A nationally recognized certification such as NSCA-CSCS, NSCA-CPT, NASM, ACE, ACSM or similar.
- Current or completed coursework in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a related field.
- Previous coaching or personal training experience.
